PoE (Power Over Ethernet)
« on: September 08, 2014, 02:36:14 pm »
I'm about to wall mount my Almond+ and I came across a few posts talking about wall mounting and PoE. Upon initial reading it sounded like the Almond+ supports the 802.3 PoE standard. After digging further it did not seem as though this is actually the case.

So before I go out and buy a POE injector I wanted to confirm that the Almond+ doesn't support PoE, does it? So if I want to wall mount I'll need both an injector and splitter to utilize PoE and as such I'm not technically using PoE, I'm just using an ethernet cable to extend the AC Adapter correct? If it supported PoE then I'd just get an injector and be done, but if it needs both, then I'll probably just extend the cable from wall wart and be done, unless someone has some better reasons as to why using the PoE method might be beneficial.

Thanks,

No, the Almond+ doesn't have native PoE support.
Yes, you'll need an injector and splitter.
