Almond+ works for intranet but won't connect to internet
« on: February 01, 2015, 01:22:18 am »
I have a black almond+ from the original kickstarter.  It has always worked great, today it stopped connecting to the internet so I went ahead and updated the firmware.  It still wouldn't connect out to the internet but the internal network worked just fine.

I tried all the usual stuff, rebooting router, rebooting cable modem, swapping out nic cables.  etc. etc.  Nothing worked, so I finally took the almond+ to the neighbors to hook it up direct to their cable modem and see what happened.  It did the same thing there, worked fine internal but would not connect to internet.

So I went to Best Buy and shelled out $150 for some large brand router, and brought that home and of course it works just fine.  Which saddens me because I loved this almond+ before it broke, and I loved the fact that I kickstarted something that made it through to being an awesome product.

So I have a $100 doorstop I guess.  Is there a warranty on these and can I send it in and pay to have it repaired?  Or since internal network works and just won't connect out to the internet, is there some creative way I could use it to extend the network in the house?  My guess is that feature probably wouldn't work since it won't connect out, but I don't know.
