Tcp green wave gateway does not connect to Internet
« on: February 03, 2015, 08:12:41 pm »
I have a number of TCP lights connected to their Gateway by what they call green wave.  The gateway connects to the Internet by an ethernet cable to my R7000 router.. It then connects to the TCP server via the Internet .

I tried to use the almond plus for this since it is in a more strategic position.   While the lan part of the gateway indicates all is ok, the device does not get through to the TCP server in their  cloud via the Internet.

My Squeezetouch does connect properly to the Internet via the plus when hard wired by ethernet .
Also my Integra 80.3 connects ok via the plus.

I am using the latest beta.

Some ethernet cables don't work well with A+ I believe. Try a few different cables out.

I haven't tested it in a while, but we have one of those here and I didn't have an issues. I'll try to test it tomorrow.

Thanks!

The TCP gateway  Device shows that the lan is  working but the WAN light goes on and off and the TCP gateway  does not seem to able to connect to the TCP server. Are all 4 Ethernet ports the same on the plus in extender mode? The port light was flashing on the plus when I tried the TCP gateway.

I did try two different ethernent cables. Is there a special one I need for the Plus.

I reattached the TCP gateway to my R7000 and all is well.

Not really, but the ports are a bit further recessed on the Almond+ so if you have cables with either a cover for the unlock tab or some moulding around the sides, they might not slot in properly into the ports on the Almond+. As long as they're similar to the cable we shipped, it should be fine.

The cable I use with the TCP unit is the same as the one you shipped so that would not be the issue.

I'm having some insane problems with their most recently released Android app, it keeps asking me if I have a new device or if I'm not at home and want to connect remotely, even though it worked 5 minutes ago, it just wouldn't find any bulbs...
I guess it's a good thing they're moving to ZigBee, as this is really not user friendly.
That said, the hub itself is connecting and getting internet as far as I can tell...

Re-installed the app and it all worked fine for me, so whatever issue you're having, I don't have any suggestions on how to solve it.
I presume you've tried different Ethernet ports as well?

I did. I called TCP and they may have an issue with and upgrade they just did.  It involves the Fio router firewall and opening a port. I will report back.

Thanks for trying it out.

Allowed port 49494 to be open on my fios router per the directions from the TCP people. This solved the problem when I attach to my R7000. TCP updated the firmware on their gateway without a notice from the cloud. they found out later this caused issues with certain routers including the Fios Actiontec.

I will try the TCP gateway with the plus after the next firmware update.

Does the almond plus require any ports to be open on on the Fios Router for best performance?
