Mottled and fading screen
« on: February 01, 2017, 09:42:12 pm »
As time goes by the screen seems to be becoming mottled and faded... I don't think it will last much longer ...

Can one purchase new screens?

No, we don't have an option to purchase the touch screen, however, you could reach our support team to see, what best could be done. We would need the proper purchase details though.

I have located two different screens that look like replacements, and since they are just over $10 each I have ordered both to try.

the following
http://www.jayconsystems.com/lcd/2-8-40-pin-tft-display-320x240-with-touchscreen.html
works fine. Correction, there is some image persistence associated with this new screen;
I have a second screen (different model) on the way, but it will take time.

A few days in place, and the problems seem to have disappeared.

I believe the problem is caused by the protective front panel de-laminating from the lcd screen (a manufacturing issue);
I may have aggravated the situation by having the weather app up 24/7

Two screws on the bottom and some clips that need pressing on the top to open the case. Ribbon cable lock needs to be flipped up; rest is easy.

But first check if it is still under warrantee.

Any source for a 3.5" version for the plus? the whole screen or the digitizer only. It's a shame that can't be operated using only the web ui.

Thanks

The screen from Jaycon Systems is sold out. Is there another source for a screen?

I see that the link to the display is for an item that is sold out.  I have tried Googling the type of display that it is, but the only one that shows up is the Jayco link.  Has anyone else figured out where to get a replacement screen?  I'd even settle for a dead device from which I can harvest the screen.

Same here.  I found a lot of places that are offering it but none that have them in stock.  The part number seems to be MI0283QT-11

Can Support not recommend where we can purchase another screen as it seems like a manufacturing defect?
