Turn Radio On/Off (for clients)
« on: May 09, 2014, 08:33:23 pm »
I saw previous threads that died regarding this issue, so I am posting anew.

I like the Almond in range extender mode; however, I would like to be able to turn off the extended wireless network that the almond broadcasts. For example in my situation, I am extending an existing wireless network, but I only want to extend it so that I can connect via ethernet to a single device without extending (tirelessly) the network from the base station.

Verbal Diagram: Base station via WiFi to Almond, then almond via ethernet to client computer (with no extended Wireless network).

Please don't post about why I want to do this, I just want to know if its possible, and if not, if this feature can be programmed in.

Thanks,

- jc

Sadly it's not possible today, but I'll discuss it with software team and see what can do.

I can certainly see usage scenarios for something like this.
There are situations where you can't really use cables, but would like to connect something that does not support wireless.
There are products for this, but they are usually quite expensive.

The Almond can already work in Bridge mode, but it does that at the same time as it works as a range extender/repeater and this is what the OP doesn't want.
