Connecting to VPN
« on: August 16, 2014, 01:51:37 am »
I am trying to connect to my VPN service, which is setup on my Mac 10.9 via Network Preferences and I keep on getting bumped off. Most of the time I simply cannot connect as the it states that the connection cannot be made.

I performed a clean restore on the router and on R065. I am wondering if the standard ports are open for L2TP VPN on the router? I couldn't find those defaults anywhere so I attempted to add the open throughputs for L2TP under Advanced > Firewall > open ports to no avail. After resetting again I am stumped and need VPN for work... Any ideas?

I also can't get a VPN connection using LT2P (or IPSec).  I can get the PPTP working, at least in the sense that I get a connection to the VPN.  But it won't let me access to local LAN connection after that.  It did once for about 10 minutes, but now it's back to nothing.  Seems like the VPN server is completely screwed up.  They'd be better off just removing it than shipping it in this state.

Securifi has said that there are problems with their L2TP VPN.  Hopefully those will be cleared up quickly.  I have had no problem connecting to the OpenVPN on my Raspberry PI, which is behind the Almond+.  I just set up port fowarding, I believe it was under Advanced->Forwarding (not Firewall).  If your Mac is set up as an L2TP server, then you should make sure L2TP is turned off on the Almond+, and then I think the Forwarding should be all you need.
