2.5 and 5khz show up as one

I was wondering if there was any way to have the two bands show up as one for your network.  so instead on "network 2.5" and "network 5" it just shows up as "network"

Sure, just call them the same thing.
Do note that some devices aren't going to be automatically switching between the two though, as Wi-Fi doesn't quite have this stuff figured out yet.

That's the thing, you don't. This is sadly how Wi-Fi works.

Use a tool like inSSIDer to sniff wireless networks around you, it will tell you which one you are currently connected to.
