Range Extender not functioning.
« on: September 01, 2014, 01:45:21 am »
Just received my Almond+, followed the instructions to set up it up as a range extender only to find out that it isn't supported.

I really feel after waiting 18 months I've been sold a pup, very disappointing day today....

Right now are you using R65 firmware.... ?

If your not using R65 firmware please load it , and update me

you can find Range Extender app In LCD UI.

if you are already loaded R65 firmware , Do Hard reset of Almond+

I had to give up on the range extender as well. Very disappointing. I am now using the Almond+ in AP mode but this required me putting the pouter in a place that had an ethernet cable, which was less than ideal. I do have the R65 firmware.

The problem I had with range extender is that it would establish the link to the main router without any problems but could never connect clients to it (they would never get an ip from the main router). I tried various combinations of settings and SSIDs and resets but it just would not work. To be fair, it might be an issue with the firmware on my main router (ASUS RT-AC566U running Tomato Shibby 1.21 firmware) but after two days I lost patience. I am an IT pro with a long history in networking so this does not bode well for an easy to use, out of the box setup that is being advertised for the Almond+.

With AP mode, it worked right away but it is not quite the setup I wanted.

Are folks trying to use the range extender and the SAME SSID?.... If your already upgraded to the newer release, and done a hard reset, when you configure the range extender you have a choice whether to use the same SSID or a different SSID... Go with the modified SSID and connect your clients to that... and see if it works...

Know it may not help the IT guys problem but might help others..

Device is loaded with R64 software.

It won't update, I have tried rebooting with no success.

No go,
Everything times out.
Connected to Internet.
Checked gateway & IP address, all set per instructions.
Also not able to access cloud account, it times out as well.

Looks like it's bricked.

Have you tried the HARD RESET button yet so you can get to the WEB UI?

Yes, 10.10.10.254 returns "web Page not available"

I was finally able to join up to the cloud, apparently, the service was down as I tried to connect.
At least that's one problem solved, now to mail support.
