Apple Bonjour Support?

I just set up my Almond+, but the apps that use Bonjour (Apple’s Remote, Rowmote) are now not able to access my computer. What settings do I need to change on my Almond+ to use these apps?

You might wanna check your settings somewhere. The Bonjour discovery service is running on my HTPC (Win 7) so I can broadcast music to XBMC, and it works perfectly well with my Macbook's iTunes that's using Airplay (and underneath, Bonjour) to find capable receivers.

Have dug around for it, but don’t know enough to be sure what I need to change. Nothing stood out as obvious for my laymen comprehension of networking.

I know it won't help much, but I didn't change any major settings to get it to work. I set up the router and then the only specific settings I configured in it were static DHCP leases.

I seem to be having intermittent issues with Bonjour as well, although I can't yet nail down the exact circumstances.  The problem did not exist prior to installing the Almond.

I'm running my A+ in router mode, and Bonjour services are working fine. My Macs can see my AppleTVs for AirPlay Display use, and doing a Bonjour scan of my network using Apple Remote Desktop on my main desktop shows all of my other Macs and allows me to control them.

A couple of thoughts on your situation: Are you running your A+ in AP mode? If so, can you try it in router mode? If not, have you tried connecting your A+ to your existing router using one of the LAN ports rather than the WAN port? (The latter has been suggested in other threads to address a problem specific to AP mode)

I think you might be talking about in Wireless > Interface Configuration > Mode and then the drop down. Correct? That is set to Access Point. When I open the drop down, that is the only option available. Should there be other options? When you say “AP mode” are you talking about “Access Point”?

I don't have any bonjour services on my home network, so this is just wild conjecture, but maybe checking "broadcast flag" checkbox in settings will help it work?  From what I remember, the broadcast flag is required for zeroconf (the protocol bonjour is based on)

On the Almond+ web interface Router Home Screen there's an area labelled "Access Point" (it's just to the right of the area labeled "Management". Open that screen and you'll see a single checkbox item labeled "Enable Access Point". Is it checked? My understanding of how the Almond+ settings are supposed to work is that puts the unit into bridge mode for cases where you've already got a router on your network. If the Almond+ is acting as your router you do not want that option enabled. Note that Access Point option is different than the Mode option in the Wireless settings page - that one you do want set to Access Point (I don't think there's any other choice there in the current UI).

Thanks all for the suggestions. Strangely enough, without any changes it started working (and much faster than my old Airport Extreme).

Not sure how that happened, but I can live with it…
