Wifi calling via iPhone
« on: October 16, 2014, 10:34:18 pm »
I got Yosemite installed tonight, and I'm running IOS 8.1 beta 2 on my phone.  I tried the new Yosemite feature to use my Mac like a speakerphone to make calls over my network to my iPhone, I kept getting very poor quality and dropped calls.  To test, I kept calling into my banks phone tree.  It was dropping entire sections of sentences throughout the call, to the point that it was basically unusable.

I had initially thought this worked via Bluetooth, but after a bit of reading, I came to the understanding that this works via Wifi.  Once I realized that, I wondered if it might be related to my Almond+ (running R066) providing the Wifi.

To test that theory, I grabbed an old Ruckus 2942 AP (about 6 years old, only supports 802.11bg) that I had laying around and hooked it up, disabling the Wifi on my Almond+.

Once my iPhone connected to the Ruckus, I tried a few test calls and they were flawless.

Anyone else experience this issue?  I remember reading that there were issues with IOS devices dropped off the Almond+, but thought those problems had been sorted out.
