Honest opinion for new to automation user.

I followed the instructions and http://10.10.10.254/ came up pre-filled user name as "root" I added "root in the password and got back: "Invalid password! Please verify Password in Status LCD Application - Web Admin Tab"
I also tried the password I used to set up the router with no luck.

I can log into a web UI from connect.securifi.com but it looks quite different than the screen shots with horizontal bars instead of the square widows type of tiles. The software tile is orange but not clic-able, with no options that I can see to perform the update.

On another note, Which may be related, the web UI says I have 5 days to confirm my email address. I have clicked the resend email several times in the IOS app and in the Web UI with no email yet. (yes I have checked spam)

You can find the password for the web UI in the LCD UI under Status, Web Admin.
We auto generate the password for each unit since some time back and the instructions simply haven't been updated to reflect that.

Connect.securifi.com is not the local web UI, that's our cloud UI.

As for the other issues, please ping our support team.

I got in on the pre-order deal and mine should be shipped soon. I am having second thoughts though as I read of many issues people are having. I have a 10 year old router that needs updating and I would like to install some home automation light switches and maybe a few other things. I just scored a great deal on a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router and am thinking of pairing that with a smarthings hub instead of the Almond+. Any thoughts from users? Also, how well does the cellphone app work. I can't find anything about it. Thanks,

I have a R7000 nighthawk and its a fantastic router.
I bought it after the first almond+ delay since, like you,  I was in dire need of a new wifi router.

almond+ home automation is non-existent (to put it kindly),  and the glacial pace of software updates leads me to believe that it will be a very very long time before that will change for the better.  They couldnt even answer a simple question of what their roadmap/timeline is or even a list of features for the final product so expectations must be kept very very low.

Have you tried the beta firmware we released?
It has automation and updated Wi-Fi drivers among the huge list of improvements that we've added.
