Notification?
« on: January 06, 2015, 05:28:55 pm »
Been waiting for the notification update to the firmware since R67 in September. Any updates?

Duhr Duhr I misunderstood, so a link to the R069 firmware isn't needed here.

What? I know R69 is out. Notifications for sensor triggers (like door open) were promised in R68 and via the kick starter note sent in December for end of year.

OOOOHHHHHHHH.  Wasn't clear.  Sorry about that.  I thought you meant notification of the firmware update after R67.

In theory, R70 should be out any time.  I think the plan was a week or two ago, but holidays probably got in the way.  I'm hoping for this week.

They're also trying to include WiFi driver updates in this drop, so if they're having problems with that, it could be holding up the new release.

I think this is all supposed to be a roll-up release so they can open the retail sales by mid-month.  I remember reading they were already shipping to distribution warehouses.

Also CES is going on so they are probably pretty busy with that.

It's there in the firmware, but we've had a couple of bugs they've been working on fixing on the cloud side and it has taken much longer than we anticipated. We have an internal app where it mostly works, but it's got some issues sometimes.
I'm not sure when it'll be released, as we were supposed to have released the new apps a couple of weeks ago.

I'd love to see an API for getting the status of connected sensors from user-created scripts running on the Almond+ --maybe one could then register their own script with the Almond+, and then when any sensor status changes the script would be run.

That way those of us who want IFTTT support could piece it together, and those of us who want to explore using MQTT could do that, etc.

The more I read about MQTT the more I want to play with it -- it's kind of an open-source roll-your-own IFTTT with a rapidly growing base of support and code libraries for raspberry pi, arduino, etc.

Since the Almond+ is running linux, has available memory, and can run user scripts and undoubtedly binaries –users might be able to develop some very cool scripts very quickly if given access to sensor data. Maybe there already is an internal list of sensor status that we can access?

Also worth a look: http://nodered.org

I think if advanced users have the option to get at the sensor data and wire it to the services of their choosing, it'll keep the Almond+ at the forefront of home automation as the various services and methods for controlling networks of sensors develop. Better than to be completely tied to one method when there are all these cool new ideas out there.

I'm looking forward to this too.  I'm using the Android app.

It would be great if the API were opened up so that ifttt could connect to it, I'm sure people could come up with some great recipes.
