Beta is a big improvement
« on: January 07, 2015, 06:43:13 pm »
Lars,

Since I haven't seen a post yet regarding the newest firmware, just thought I'd put in one.  R069cb is working great for me so far.  The rules work, but I only have link bulbs to test.  My HTC One is working much better with the new wifi drivers and all my other devices are working good.    All the delays were frustrating, but it's a huge relief to be able to make some rules finally and have my wifi working well again.

Thanks to the whole group!

Hi !

I have 3 binary on/off plug-in switchs (EVR_AN158-6P3) that work well on Almond+ screen, on web UI but are unsupported on android app. Is it normal ?

Now I have update to the BETA. I try to setup a rule without success. With R070 Frimware this is OK
I try : IF PIR motion detector is detecting someting THEN put plug-in switch ON
But at THEN, i just have the wait Timer so I can't create any rule.

Thanks for reply,
Talard

Thanks for the update!  Here are my observations so far (if anyone cares).

1.  Much better performance using wifi.  I am using an iPhone 6 plus and have seen a 50% increase in speed.
2.  Stability.  Using R069, I would see my iphone switch connections to my upstairs router every 2-3 hours.  I have had it up for 6 hours now with no drops.
3.  New sensors:
           a. Leviton VRMX1-1LZ Wall Dimmer: SUCCESS! IOS app work great.
           b. Levitron DZS15 Wall Binary Switch : NOT YET.  I don't believe these were part of the update...
4.  Old sensors:
           a. Link Bulbs - GOOD.  In fact I dare say a little more responsive
           b. Ecolink Z-Wave PIR Motion Detector: GOOD.  No real change.
5.  Temperature:
           a.  Using a thermal camera, I am seeing 108 F on the front screen and 120 F on the back.  This is after 6 hours running netflix, two dropcams, and various phones and a laptop.  Slightly lower than previously observed.
6.  Weather.  Out of curiosity I tried this.  It hung the main screen until I rebooted the router.

Thanks again.  This update was worth it for me.

The weather app hung on me also.  Said it couldn't gather the data.  Is there something we need to setup for the weather app to work?  I'll happily input my zip code somewhere if necessary.  Hope it's not trying to use the host server's location for weather as that can sometimes be very wrong.

Odd, they should work in the app, as that type of devices is supported as far as I know.

For the automation, please wait to the next release which I think will be next week, since as mentioned, right now the support for sensors is somewhat limited, but we're working on adding support for more sensors.

I forgot to mention that the weather app is bugged in this release, we'll fix that for the next release which should hopefully be next week.

I updated late last night and have not had time to test with all my wifi devices but I will update on this.

My Z-Wave devices are still all listed as "Unsupported device!" in the webpage & IOS application.

Leviton VP00R-1LX
Leviton VRI06-1LX
Leviton VRPA1
Intermatic HA02
Leviton VRCS4-1LZ

Is there anything I can do to help get these devices supported?

Thanks,
KT

I am also only seeing Timer as an action, and when i try to save i get the error that i am missing an action. Which is logical, but frustrating. Is it because my sensor is unsupported in some way? Ive added the sensor without issue and it gives a signal in the regular interface. (both as door and binary, open/close on/off)

I don't know what those are off the top of my had, but dimmers are supported. You might have to remove and add them again for them to show up correctly if you'd already paired them as unknown devices prior to updating the firmware.

As mentioned in the release notes, currently only limited sensors are supported in the rules, we'll be adding more sensors in over the next few releases.

I will second that the beta is a huge improvement.  Updated last night and all my apple devices are working without issue (no more lock ups, no more drops and no more freezing of the Almond+ screen itself).  This is for a iMac, macbook pro, iphone5, iphone6+ and ipad 2 and ipad 3.  All have not had an issue so far.

On all builds prior to the beta I was having issues with drops and video over RDP on desktops/laptops, those appear to be fixed with the beta, but my iOS devices are worse. They randomly stop responding for up to a minute or two. I can go to the same site on a laptop and iPad, and the laptop will load, the iPad won't. But it's random.

Nice to hear about the good experience everyone is having with the beta.

Lars: Any updates or information on when a "beta 2" or final version would come? Want to upgrade my 066-version but was waiting for a final version or a beta 2 before doing this.. :)

I'd go ahead and try this firmware, as internally it's about release 65 or something... It's by no means perfect, but a huge upgrade from R066. I guess we should have another release in a week or two.

Great, thanks for the input. Just updated to the beta. Smooth update, all settings remains. Seems to work still. :) Like the watch-feature for the display, hoping for a working Weather-widget in a future release.

One (of topic) general input is that I think (and was hoping as an initial backer) that the Touch UI would focus on sensors control, home automatic and similar features. It is not as if I will go in and configure the network on a daily basis but I can definitely see myself controlling (not configuring) sensors daily.
