FIOS and Almond+ Speed

Hello:

I have Verizon FIOS (15Mbps) and recently I have connected my Almond+ to get ac capability  or to increase the speed. I am using Intel i5 NUC computer which has ac WiFi card. But when I connected to Almond+, I am getting only 240mbps speed which is just like 802..n . I have set up my almond+ on 11ACVHT80. I goggled and as per comment I made few adjustment to my wifi card( i.e. by changing to VT mode etc.). Is this correct because I have only 15Mbps ? How do I get full blast speed like ac or around 800-900mbps? Please help me to set up my almond+.

What Wi-Fi card do you have in the NUC?
Is it able to connect via 802.11ac on 5GHz or it is a 802.11n 5GHz card? Intel has both kinds, hence why I'm asking.

see below when I check the interface using netsh>wlan show interface. I have  Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 card installed in my NUC. I wish I could able to attach the pictures here. I checked my wireless properties and it is showing me 240mbps. Please help me to get max speed.

That's really odd, I have the same card on a PCIe riser in my desktop and I connect at 780-886.7Mbps.
Note that the top limit of that card is 886.7Mbps.

Slower speeds tend to depend on range, so if you're far away from your router, your Wi-Fi card will connect at lower link speeds. Also, if you have a lot of thick walls made out of concrete and metal (rebar or chicken wire), you'd also get slower link speeds.
Also check that you're using the latest drivers from Intel.

You can also try changing the channel, but it shouldn't have too much of an effect.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have set up in the basement ( only drywall and range is around 25 ft)and I have nuc connected to upstairs family leaving room TV. I have changed the channel but still the same. I will try to bring closer to my NUC and see. I also noticed that my 5G network is not working on my Second floor bed room but 2G works great. quite strange.

So there is no problem with my FIOS 15-25 mbps speed. Right?  My NUC is only one month old and drivers are updated yesterday. do you think I need to get another card or what?What are the alternatives?

Almond+ speeds just have to do with what is connected to the Almond+.
If you pay Verizon for 15mbit/sec up, and 25mbit/sec down,
then that is all you can get from the ONT to your next hop on Verizon's network.

I've drawn (ugly, sorry) and attached a simple network map.
The part from the ONT to the ATM router is limited to 25mbit download speed because of the service you are paying for.

Any other traffic should run at higher speeds, depending on overhead (usually 10% or so), and interference (fluorescent lights, other radios, etc).
