Fixing Mac OSX and IOS connection issues
« on: January 13, 2015, 04:56:03 pm »
I've seen a lot of strife in the forums about the speed of Apple products on the Almond+ wifi network. There is, I believe, still performance work to be done on the Almond+ side, but there is a huge fix that can be done on your computer for the known wifi issues in mac OS: disable airdrop fully by turning off the interface. On a mac, you can do it yourself through the terminal by typing sudo ifconfig awdl0 down, or you can download an app from this site, which also  explains the issue. If you have IOS, and you are jailbroken, you can use this.. Fixes are supposedly in the works from apple in the next minor OS versions.

I still am having some performance issues while using this hack and the latest beta firmware, but performance seems much improved.

Thanks, but I saw no improvement in my case.

Worth a try anyhow. I am still getting high end 802.11n speeds in my apartment after the fix, but it's a densely populated area, so I don't know how much is due to the router and how much is interference. I hope the wifi drivers continue to improve.
