Firmware 070 Range Extender mode - clients dont have internet
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:28:11 am »
Hi!

Although this was supposed to be a corrected issue in this firmware.
My experience is that when using the Range Extender mode and choosing the recomended settings (choosing the SSID as Almond_SSID_of_the_repeated_network) the clients I connect to the Almond SSID cannot access the internet.
I tried reset the router to default settings in the web interface and then using the wizard in the LCD UI configure the Almond+ to Range Extender and the same thing happens.
It already happened with 069 and 069cb.

Hope to have helped

Cheers!

I hope you are using AP2-R070, if not then update your firmware, it should work, if you already updated it then try Factory Reset.

Hi!

Thx for answering.
Im using R070 version for Almond+. Tried to do a factory reset in the web interface. Is there any other way to do a more "complete" reset to defaults?
Still not working.

Thx!

If you did factory reset from Web interface it will completely reset the device, and there is another way though you can try.

follow this:-

Can you give us your Main Router Details.

Hi!

After some testing I can post more details, so here goes:

My main router is a Draytek 2130Vn with the latest firmware.

Its a 300Mbps 2.4Ghz Wifi-N router.

I'm repeating the 2.4Ghz signal with a WPA2 PSK AES encryption. The almond+ says it connects ok and it does as you will see below.
I'm using a 192.168.2.xxx network with a 255.255.255.0 mask.

When I connect to the Almond+ SSID, being 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. I can ping and reach all my internal network devices, but I cannot access or ping my main router with IP 192.168.2.254, so It connects OK to my main router, but the Almond is not routing correctly its clients to the internet, right?

When I connect to the Mainrouter SSID, I cannot ping the Almond+ IP, but I can ping all my internal devices and reach the internet.

I have a 150Mbit TP-link rangebooster and it works very well with my router, so it must be an Almond+ problem, right?

Thx for all the help, lets hope this details will shed some light on the problem!

:)  To fix your  Range Extender mode go to the OpenWRT Network Interface setting.

Common Configuration
1:   OpenWRT
2:   Networks
3:   Interfaces
4:   Interfaces - LAN
5: General Setting
6: Protocol  (change to DHCP Client)
7:  Really switch protocol?  click on switch protocol

8:  DHCP Server below
9: General Setting
10: Ignore interface  (check this)

Reboot the Router

There is a bug in the Interface setup when going to Range Extender mode

Im having issues with Firmware 070 as a Range Extender which seems to be a combination of the following...

1. Locking up the router when diagnostics run or trying to re-connect to the device being range extended....
2. Clients after a set period of time not able to connect to the internet even though there is a connection established...
3. Having to reset BOTH devices to get it to reconnect to the internet...

Im still guessing my Clear Hotspot is part of the issue, http://www.infomark.co.kr/html_eng/product/egg.php?linkNum=1&linkSubNum=3 but the Almond+ actually gets really stupid when trying to reestablish the connection..

Pretty much at a loss for what im doing wrong.. When in doubt, unplug the Securifi or reset it it..

Hi thx for the answer.

But I cannot change it to DHCP client, as soon as I change to DHCP client and click on switch protocol and accept. The router reboots it self and the web interfaces says: waiting for router. And then when the web interface is availiable again the ALmond is in Static IP again...

Cheers!
