touch screen doesn't work
« on: March 29, 2015, 04:12:30 pm »
Not sure why but today I noticed my almond plus restarted on its own. Shortly after that I decided to see if there was a new update I should be downloading. I used the stylus to attempt to navigate but it's not going anywhere. The screen is on, in the home screen, however no matter what I touch, it doesn't go anywhere. What do I do now?

I have noticed that with R070as the touch screen is very flakey as well.  pressing a number or letter either with fingers or stylus enters double, triple or even quadruple entries.

Can you try a hard reset - http://wiki.securifi.com/index.php?title=Hardware_reset_button_-_Almond%2B_2014
Note that this will reset the SSID, Wi-Fi password and web UI passwords, so if this doesn't solve the issue, you won't be able to use your Almond+.
If that doesn't help, please contact the support team.

I did a hard restart.  However the screen still does not work which means unless I login to the router through a hard wire, I can't setup the radios and do not know what the assigned passwords are.  Also I have a chromecast which is only 2.4 ghz and it was not able to find the router after restart which makes me wonder if that radio went down. So yesterday I packed up the router, and did a return with Amazon.  I ordered another one which will arrive today.  I don't know if that is the method you would have suggested but I really didn't have any options.  My wife works from home and we need wireless.  This router, when it was working well far exceeds the gateway from Uverse.  In other words, I love it.  I am just hoping I bought a defective unit.  I will keep you informed with how the new one works when I install in later today.

wanted to give everyone an update.  I received the replacement almond plus last night.  I went through the setup this morning and updated to the latest firmware update.  The touchscreen is working perfectly.  Wireless is working flawlessly.  So at this point its safe to say the other one was defective.
