R72 - a year with no router

Thanks very much for your offer to get the config files sorted. I will have another attempt to get port 80 working and let you know if I need help.

You were not to know, but if you look at the image attached, you can see the status screen for my modest home automation system.
Take a second to review the pages in the navigation panels on the left and right to see the extent of the system.

Thus in fact, I am EXACTLY who the Almond + was built for. The home automation functions were exactly what I was looking for in a router.
My entire system is web based. In order to monitor and control my HA system, I need access to the web server.... On port 80...... Only after we get the Almond + to do this basic router function can I move on to its HA abilities.

Maybe you got this working already, but as mentioned, all you should have to do (I tested this again on my router, even though I don't do it normally).

Edit /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf. Add the server.bind line so it looks like (change 10.10.10.1 to your router internal ip).

## bind to port (default: 80)
server.bind = "10.10.10.1"
server.port = 80
Then restart lighttpd (/etc/init.d/lighttpd restart). Then you should be able to make a working port 80 forward.

From the next firmware, we're moving to uhttpd from lighttpd and it'll be possible to change the default port on the Almond+ from then, although you'll have to edit the uhttpd config file to do this.

I had similar symptoms and it ended up being that when I upgrade from the R70 beta to R72 via the web ui, the rulesagent process would go nuts and use all the ram and the router would crash.  I had to revert to R65 (only version I could find in a downloadable).  I also tried the hard reset and then a manual flash to R70, but still had the same issue.  Currently I am stuck on R65.
