Anyone having MacBook Air wifi issues?
« on: May 04, 2015, 05:11:02 pm »
Hey all,

I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing wireless issues on MacBookAirs? My wife has two MacBookAir's (work and personal) and every Sunday she gets the error message "Unable to get an IP address" on our wireless network for both laptops! I thought maybe it was a bug in the R69 firmware and updated to R72, but the issue persists. She is able to connect to her phone acting as a wifi hotspot no problem.

The only workaround I found is to reboot the almond + and both laptops are fine for a week again. All other devices in the house are fine being connected 24/7, it's just the Airs having issues. They are different model year Airs as well and are on different OS versions.

Debating about ditching my Almond+ for an ASUS AC router :(

There was a bug in early firmware that was causing corrupt packets, but that was fixed. My Mac Mini, iPhone, and iPad have been working fine. Is it only on one band or both 2.4GHz, and 5GHz?

I did test on both bands and it's the same. I can turn on and off the bands as well and nothing helps but restarting the router.

This problem seems to be only on the Air for us. My wife has an iPad and it has no issues.

@ JayFiveAlive,

It would be very helpful, if you could let us know which mode you are using the Almond+ and also let us know what OS version you have on two Macbook Airs?

No problem at all!

MBA 1 on: 10.10.2
MBA 2 on 10.10.3

11NGHT40 2.452 Ghz

11ACVHT80 5.805 Ghz

Tried using only one band at a time to make sure there was no confusion on the Airs side, also tried changing the security type for giggles.

Are you in router, access point, or range extender mode?

My only option is Access Point mode. If I click the drop-down I have no other choices.

@ JayFiveAlive,

Me and Ohiomedic were referring to the Almond+ setup mode, is it setup as Router or Range Extender or as an Access point mode. You might be looking under Wireless-->Interface Configuration-->Mode. Please check under Status.
