interfacing with OpenHAB
« on: July 15, 2015, 03:31:01 pm »
Hello,
I saw one other very old OpenHAB thread here.  I thought I'd start another to see if there's been any updates.

Basically, OpenHAB blows the Almond interface/logic engine out of the water.  There's no comparison if you're ok at scripting.  The part that Almond provides is the zigbee and z-wave radio.  It looks like you can use curl commands to turn on zigbee/z-wave lights associated with Almond.  What about sensors?  Can you set a call back function somehow?  Or better yet, can Almond implement MQTT?

Seems like there isn't much interest here.
I would love to see it because I think the idea of openHAB is great. Connecting all the hardware into one interface and all.
I really want to see the Isy and openHAB integrated too.
Being able to use one app or other interface with the different controllers is the best part of it IMHO.

I am interested in openhab interface as well. Single system controlling several different devices with different protocols, that would be ideal. However openhab 1 is so complex and confusing to even setup. Hopefully Openhab2 will be more user friendly.

Do tell  :o

This could alleviate my need for a MySensors plugin...

I've thought about setting up an MQTT feed from my Almond+, just haven't spent any time on it yet. I have a bunch of things logging to Thingspeak, and my front door lock sends me SMS messages, but other than that I haven't done much tinkering lately.

OpenHAB, Nebrios, IFTTT, or tasker - I don't care.  Just give me something I can use to get more sophisticated automation rules, scenes, etc..  Ideally, the engine would be running on the Almond+, but if I need to, I'd be happy to have my cell phone, or an external server do the automation.

If you ever setup MQTT feed from Almond+, please share the details.

Four years later, is there more, yet? This still seems to be the latest thread regarding OpenHAB.
