Lost Connection
« on: December 07, 2016, 07:17:36 am »
I know I've seen many different complaints about Almond+ user's about their units dropping connection.
For about a month or so now my Almond+ been acting weird, like I would notice that the LCD display is off, there is no WiFi or Ethernet connection, but the Ethernet ports are on and flashing.
I would have to pull the power to reset and solve the problem. but now its happening much more frequently like couple times or so a week.
My work around is to reboot the router every night at 3 a.m.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Is your LCD always left on? I would recommend against that out of concern for overheating. As far as disconnects how is it setup? As a router, range extender, access point etc? Sounds like it is being dropped from the connection to the modem. If that is the case I would reboot the modem and reconnect and see how that works. Also, may be worth trying a different cable (make sure you are using the correct ports). For normal troubleshooting also make sure you are up to date on the most recent software.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah the LCD is always on. The Almond+ is set up a router, I've rebooted the cable modem still no change, cables been replaced.
I'm just confused as to why all of a sudden this started happening.

That is a long standing issue with A+. I've been fighting with it for years.  It's dropping WAN, not LAN ( I bunny-u-me) .  If so, you need to go into A+ command console and delete the WAN logs .

root@AlmondPlus:/# cd /sbin
root@AlmondPlus:/sbin# rm network_wan

Then reboot. It usually stays stable for about a month after doing that for me.
