WiFi not steady for file transfer.
« on: September 02, 2014, 03:42:31 am »
Hey guys,

Let me start by saying you did a great job with the Almond+, I'm really happy with the product I already have, can't wait to see the future of it.

About my issue now.
I've got a poor internet connection at home, around 6MB/s, and I need to transfer from work a lot of files. These files are sized between few MB up to 20 or 30GB sometimes. I transfer them over SFTP and it can take days to transfer the bigger one. I use an iMac bought in April 2013 for the transfer.

When I connect to the FTP on the Almond+ WiFi (either 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz) the connection is not steady enough and the transfer drops within few minutes (from 5 to 20 minutes, it depends). The error I get from my client says "couldn't access the server".
When I do the transfer through LAN it is working perfectly and does not stop (I tested with a 20GB file and since the last 10h it didn't drop).
It worth noting that the previous router I used did not drop the connection with the WiFi, so I do think it is related to the Almond+ WiFi connection.

What is a little weird for me is that on my iOS devices the WiFi connection is a lot more steady with the Almond+ than with my former WiFi router. For example I had problems before to download big podcast on my iPhone but with the Almond+ everything is downloading really fast and stays steady all the way.

Any ideas?

Do you happen to have your A+ in AP mode? If so many of us are seeing the same issue. See here:
