Never did like the wall mounting plate, and for good reason. A truck drives by and rattles my apt building (mind you I'm on the 3rd story), and the almond+ falls right off the bracket. Bracket is still on the wall, made sure to use the flattest flat top screws I could find because there was always a bulge when putting on the back plate to the router. Well, lo and behold, the router fell down today, the screen cracked, and the touch screen stopped functioning. So now I have to do everything through the web interface, which means I probably can't add devices.

Can I get a replacement screen for the device? TIA!

@ hashish,

To our best knowledge, we don't have any option for sending the parts for the device. We could completely understand your situation of not being able to add any sensors. However, please do reach out to our support team (support@securifi.com) and would personally see what best we can do for you on this.

Hi Ashok, thanks for the prompt response, is this an off the shelf LCD screen that can be purchased say off of ebay?

@ hashish,

No, we don't suggest our users to purchase anything from Ebay only through authorized sellers. Coming to the question of LCD screen or other parts, so far we did not sell any of the parts yet for our devices. Meanwhile, as you being a loyal user who backed our project through Kickstarter, we are working something out for you and our support team would get in touch with you soon.

Securifi seems to be going over and beyond the call of duty when it comes to hardware problems with the Almond+, esp for backers...

Though... id really like them to consider offering a replacement display for purchase.. perhaps even an "upgraded" model that does away with the resistive touch and replaces it with a captouch display... Even if its only for expert users to install at own risk, and perhaps offer them on newer models of the Almond........

Well Securifi totally came through on this, they shipped a replacement LCD and came in like 3 days. Just installed and it was a piece of cake. The locking tab on the LCD ribbon cable is a pain because of its location, but only took my like 15 minutes to fix.

Thanks so much Securifi team!

Nice to know they have finally gotten with the program.

On a related note for the design team, the wall mounting plate is in fact, a very good idea that is not often found in consumer routers. It's just badly executed.
It won't handle repeated use - removing & refastening - without eventually losing the ability to hold the router to the plate. And (stating this as a member of the beta testing group, so I fiddle with it often) I pull that thing off the wall all the time - connecting ethernet cables, access to USB, power jack.

Needs a better designed wall plate. One that doesn't rely on those little plastic nubs.

That's a very good suggestion, I am sure our team would agree on the same and implement it with any of our future products we may come up with. Thank you!

An angled hook might work. If the plate is mounted to the wall and has small hooks at a 45 degree angle, they could slot into mounting holes on the router. This would allow hanging it vertically or horizontally (as needed and if the software could accomodate). The other option would be the more typical screw slot holes many products use. But that means the person has to get the alignment correct, correct size screws (unless provided) and the right depth.

I like this idea. Sounds like an easy mod to the existing A+.

I've had mine on the wall for only a few months and it's definitely not "locking" to the wall mount plate as solidly as it did the first few times. I've only made cabling changes a handful of times. My cables are snug enough so that if it does fall off of the mounting plate it wouldn't go very far, but I suppose it still could smack & crack the lcd.

You know... This whole thread had me wondering about that... Maybe I will take some measurements and get mine running for the first time in a while. Of course, I have to make some free time first.

I took my Almond off the wall and took measurements last night. So everyone knows, the mounting points appear to be 100mm center to center. I spent some time making a 3d model (and discovering my printer is in rough shape after sitting unused for so long). Then I checked the actual back of the Almond+ and discovered that the mounts on the back will handily allow for normal screws.

So there is no need for a new mount. Just put two screws (confirm they fit the back of the Almond+ first of course) in the wall with 100mm centers.
